Sidney was a small town in Delaware County, New York but provided both volunteers and substitutes for the War. An original Civil War New York State Certificate of Indebtedness certifying the Town oF Sidney, Delaware County New York has provided 15 Volunteers and Substitutes for the quota under the call of December, 1864 and the town is entitled to reimbursement of $12,200 . The Certificate is signed by Governor Reuben Fenton, at Albany, June 3, 1865. 1p 8 x 5" ptd/ink, Edge cuts,age stains, Overall VG. The Certificate shows cancellation cuts in the center indicating the money has been paid.
