Exquisite Victorian hand-mirror made of an early plastic....clearly marked, below the mirror, "DIATITE PAT 1868 March 19 (or 18?) 1878"....manufactured by the Boston Diatite Company....measures 9 1/2" long by 4 1/8" wide....comic scene consists of a dog "playing" with a cat who has hidden in a coal scuttle....Excellent Condition....original beveled mirror is excellent with only minor darkening of the silvering along the right edge....gutta percha/thermoplastic frame is excellent without warping or cracks....from a non-smoking home....please study all photos, feel free to ask questions, and be sure to check out my other interesting antique sales.A note about shipping: I list all items with a five-day handling time due to my work schedule, however ship as quickly as possible.
