This set is one of those "How Do These Things Survive" things. It is hand made pottery from a red clay. I really don't know anything about how it was made, but the glaze, paint and overall style is uneven primitive. It is quite old, at least to the 1950s. These sets were sold on the streets in Mexico, AND in the streets in the Southwest. This set came from Santa Fe. Please, don't eat from this set, and definitely don't put it in the oven. It is hand made, and I am pretty sure the lacquer that was used for the finish has lead in it. It's the lead in the lacquer that gives it is lustre. It is safe to handle, just not to eat out of. Of course, if you line it in something, you could eat from it, but if you put it in the oven, it will probably break; it's pretty fragile! It is graduated in size.
The biggest piece is 11 1/2" long and 8 1/4" wide. The smallest piece is 6 1/2" by 3 3/4". The set isn't signed.
