Item DetailsAntique French Victorian Mantel Clock, Circa 1860Offers WelcomeA very fine example of a Victorian 19th century mantel clock dating to circa 1860 demonstrating the finest quality of craftsmanship. The clock, of Asian form, features an ormolu dial with individual white enamel cartouches housing black hand painted Roman numerals, each spaced by a gold floral motif.The whole profusely decorated with Asian style attributes including the clocks drum case held by four dragons alongside two peacocks to the front and rear elevation. The dial and mechanism are both protected by thick bevelled glass hinged door with ormolu bezel. The whole surmounted by a floral finial.The 8 day twin train mechanical movement is by a count wheel and strikes the hours and half on bell. The mechanism is stamped by one of the most important, renowned and awarded 19th century clock manufacturers, Japy Freres.
The pendulum, bell and winding key are present.

Condition: Overall, the clock is in good working condition. The ormolu is in good condition and retains a very good colour.
