Preowned vintage; EUC! Please read description & see all photos.As stunning as it is large, a hand-carved bust of a Balinese Klungkung Warrior, from Bali, Indonesia circa 1940s-1960s. Over 13” tall (larger & heavier than a gallon of milk) this gorgeous work of art is carved from a single solid piece of hardwood.It is engraved/signed F. A PANAKUS BALI on the base followed by KOTA GEDANG DJAKARTA. F. A. Pan Akus was a dealer of carvings by master Kota Gedang in Gedang Djakarta Bali, with a reputation dealing in high quality art & handcrafts from Bali in the 1940\'s-1960\'s.The hardwood is most likely teak & has absolutely beautiful wood grain marbling.There are several of these type of busts on the market, but never one so finely detailed in it\'s carving, or in such beautiful condition! Most you will find are rudimentary carvings, or ones that are missing the hilt of the warrior\'s sword. They are often lost because they were a separate piece inserted into the top of the weapon. This sculpture has the hilt of its sword glued in place to ensure it never becomes separated from the sword. This sculpture is fully 3-dimensional & realistic.The details are amazing - the eyes, the lips, the smoothness of the skin... even the Klungkung Headdress is finely carved, and the locks of hair are individually carved.This is a STUNNING LARGE piece (13 1/8\"Hx 7 3/4\"W x 5\"D) and will stand out in any Mid-Century Modern decor home.
