Serpentine group is so named because the minerals have mottled green pattern like that of a snake. Chemically simple, and structurally very complex. All are very fined-grained.
Because they have many different habits, the serpentines have been fiven many names, but only three are generally recognized: qntigorite, lizardite, and chrysotile
